Description

Comunilife Inc. is seeking Security Guards for its Respite program in Manhattan. The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and support of the program’s residence staff and clients. Key responsibilities include maintaining safety conditions, protecting residents, and securing the facility. The position requires coverage during nights and weekends, as needed. The Security Guard will work collaboratively with program staff in accordance with Comunilife principles and guidelines. Reports to the Program Director. This position offers benefits and paid time off after 60 days of employment, with a pay rate up to $15.61 per hour.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor the front door for safety and security purposes
  • Check all incoming and outgoing traffic of clients, visitors, and staff. Ensure clients sign in and out, and verify they do not take private property without permission.
  • Maintain detailed logs of traffic
  • Report security violations to program staff and, when necessary, to the NYPD
  • Ensure clients do not bring in alcohol, contraband drugs, weapons, or unauthorized electronic equipment
  • Follow procedures for securing, reporting, and disposing of confiscated contraband
  • Patrol the building and outdoor areas regularly, including halls, stairs, and bathrooms, and report safety hazards
  • Manage loitering in public areas
  • Report violations of house rules to the Assistant Program Director
  • Keep logs of rule violations
  • Attend required training and meetings

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • High School diploma
  • 8 and 16-hour Security Guard Training Certificates; New York State Security Guard License
  • One to two years of security or healthcare experience
  • Experience working with homeless individuals, those with mental illness, or substance abuse issues is a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
