Job Description
Provides all children with a caring respectful and nurturing environment, introducing children to a variety of experiences and creative activities.
This is a full time 40 hour per week position working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
- Plans developmentally appropriate curriculum submitting plans weekly for approval
- Supervises the appropriate use of all education materials and supplies in the classroom
- Ensures that Bright Futures Early Learning Center is in compliance with EEC rules and regulations at all times
- Is Knowledgeable about Bright Futures Early Learning Center's confidentiality policy, Wich provides that information contained in a child’s record is privileged and confidential, and may not be distributed, shared or discussed (including photographs or other images) by any staff member
- Provides active supervision to ensure safety of children
- Assists in setup and cleanup during snack and meal times, and assists children during snack time and meal time
- Rotates toys & materials on a regular basis
- Update Bulletin boards & bi-monthly newsletters
- Serves as an escort for children in the transportation program; escorting them to and from the van or bus, and ensuring the driver signs the sign off sheet
- Conducts 30-day reviews and bi-annual evaluations
- Assures that physical & emotional needs of children are met
- Roll call & head counts
- Ensure children have outside time/and/or physical activity
- Is always aware of the whereabouts of every child in the classroom, communicating with other staff about the number of children in their care throughout the day, and ensuring that EEC ratios are enforced at all times, as well as never leaving a child or room unattended
- Ensures that the classroom is clean, safe, and well organized with supplies and equipment put away when not in use
- Uses proper hand washing up to but not limited to: before handling food, after diaper changing, blowing noses, using bathrooms, caring for a sick child
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Director
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
- Communicates with parents as it relates to the daily routine of their child and their child’s progress through parent engagement app
- Is available for parent conferences as needed or requested
- Is approachable and responsive to parent concerns, issues or questions Teacher
- Completes and maintains individual records for each child as per EEC regulations
- Is knowledgeable about chronic conditions, allergies including food allergies, and asthma for all students in his/her classroom
- Documents all incidents & accidents as per EEC regulations
- Immediately reports to the Director inappropriate behavior from staff, children, parents/guardians
- Informs the Director of any parent complaints
- Acts as a mandated reporter by Massachusetts State Law with regard to suspected child abuse and/or neglect, and as a mandated reporter is required to report any suspected child abuse/neglect to the Director immediately
- All staff members shall ensure that the needs of all children are met at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must Possess a high School Diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old and completed three credits in Child Growth and Development and required work experience. Transcripts of credits and documentation of work experience must be submitted.
- Must have EEC certification with a copy kept on file. Must have a 1-year verifiable experience in Childcare.
- Must be certified in CPR and Basic First Aid with certificates current and kept on file.
- Must complete required EEC online training(s)
- Must complete annual training hours
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is in a childcare center that operates from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. This position may require additional work hours. Classroom assignment and scheduled hours are subject to change. Employees may be asked to report or to remain at work during adverse weather conditions. When required to report to work under these circumstances, the employee is expected to use sound judgment with respect to maintaining personal safety given his/her individual circumstances, but to also make a substantial good faith effort to reach the work site in a timely manner. Attends monthly staff meetings and professional development day trainings. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. Time off requests must be in writing at least 2 weeks in advance of the request. Respectful interactions with children, parents and co-workers
