Construction/Carpentry Teacher

Directly Responsible to: Principal

Assignment Period: The position follows the district-approved teacher schedule

Qualifications:

§ NCCER Certified

§ Teaching license preferred

§ Experience in construction, woodworking, or carpentry

§ Bachelor's degree preferred.

§ Ability and willingness to obtain a teaching certification and training related to the position or the ability to meet such requirements within two years.

General Description:

The Construction Teacher seeks to provide students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, training necessary to succeed in future careers, and become lifelong learners. Additionally, working with local resources provides students with instruction that develops competencies leading to postsecondary education and/or employment.

§ Assist students in learning proper construction practices

§ Ability to teach: - knowledge and skills in construction programs

§ Appropriate use of construction related equipment

§ Ability to plan: - Classroom/materials budgets and needs

§ Use of appropriate software

§ Curriculum and lesson plans based on course offerings

§ Construction projects based on student competencies

§ Construction related projects and events

§ Instruction for students and means to manage their behavior

§ Help students earn construction/carpentry industry credentials and certifications

§ Ability to teach and develop woodworking skills for students

Professional Expectations

§ Communicate effectively and respectfully with all colleagues and students.

§ Exhibit effective time management skills.

§ Adhere to the code of ethics of the teaching profession of the State of Ohio.

§ Accept and fulfill assigned responsibilities and duties in a prompt and efficient manner.

§ Follow Board of Education policies, building procedures, and any other rules, regulations or procedures that may be established by the central or building administration.

§ Maintain records necessary for the performance of his/her duties.

§ Perform other duties as may be assigned by the building principal.

Position Expectations

§ Part time: work at least 25 hours per week

§ Can be full-time position: negotiable

§ Salaried position: $30,000, negotiable

§ 10-month school employee

§ STRS account for retirement and pension purposes
