About Roseville Community School
Roseville Community School is a small, progressive learning center supporting homeschooling families through a child-centered, play-based, and inquiry-driven approach to education. We serve students in Kindergarten through 6th grade in mixed-age classrooms with small class sizes (12–14 students). Our educators nurture confident, curious, and compassionate learners through personalized learning experiences, strong relationships, and deep integration of social-emotional growth with academic learning.
We teach the whole child—socially, emotionally, and academically—and are guided by values of inclusion, autonomy, creativity, and community connection.
Position Overview
We’re hiring a full-time Elementary Teacher (grades K–6, depending on experience and placement) who is passionate about progressive education and committed to project-based, student-centered learning. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, creativity, and care to the classroom, with a strong foundation in child development, social-emotional learning, and interdisciplinary instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a developmentally appropriate, engaging curriculum aligned with California Common Core and progressive learning practices
- Introduce academic content through integrated, hands-on, inquiry-based projects
- Build an inclusive, respectful classroom community grounded in emotional safety, autonomy, and collaboration
- Differentiate instruction and assessments to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Communicate regularly with families through updates, conferences, and collaborative dialogue
- Collaborate with colleagues to co-create interdisciplinary themes and school-wide learning experiences
- Participate in staff meetings, reflection, and ongoing professional development
- Support school events, enrichment offerings, and community initiatives as part of the faculty team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in a classroom or learning community
- Understanding of child development and inclusive, responsive teaching practices
- Familiarity with progressive education (e.g., Dewey, Alfie Kohn, Reggio Emilia, Bev Bos)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- California teaching credential or equivalent
- 2+ years of lead teaching experience
- Experience with project-based learning and authentic assessment
- Background in SEL frameworks such as Conscious Discipline, Responsive Classroom, or Toolbox
- Comfort working in a mixed-age classroom or learning center setting
