JOB TITLE: Theater Teacher

Job Summary: Resurrection College Prep High School is looking for qualified applicants for an opening as a Theatre Teacher, with a possible opportunity to lead the Fall and Spring play productions.

Under the supervision of the school principal, responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes, and performs related duties as required.

Performs professional work providing limited direct instruction and computer assisted services in a specialized subject or assigned group of subjects which include Theatre, Make-up and Costume, as well as some consumer education courses motivating students to develop skill in assigned subject matters; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Facilitate specialized theater techniques and concepts, motivating all students to achieve their full artistic potential.
  • Establish and maintain standards of behavior during rehearsals and performances to foster a respectful and focused environment.
  • Encourage students to think creatively, develop their own characters and narratives, and express original ideas through performance and production.
  • Communicate with students, teachers, and parents through conferences, showcases, and other means to keep them informed about student involvement and progress.
  • Utilize computer-based applications for theater management, script analysis, and collaboration on digital projects, when appropriate.
  • Model inclusive and non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of theater activities, ensuring a welcoming environment for all students.
  • Set positive expectations for learning and artistic expression for all students, regularly assessing their progress and maintaining accurate records of achievements in theater.
  • Confer with parents, guardians, administrators, and/or support staff in accordance with school procedures to discuss student involvement and progress in theater programs.
  • Perform related tasks as required, including directing productions, organizing workshops, and overseeing theater events.

Qualifications

Experience: The successful candidate will possess teaching experience or equivalent in an accredited secondary school. Experience gained in a Catholic setting strengthens the application. A demonstrated understanding of content-area curricular trends and instructional best practices, curriculum design and implementation in an Understanding by Design framework strengthens application. Having a familiarity with community engagement and partnership development, process for mentor development, and student services.

Education and Licensure

An undergraduate degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited college/university is required. In the absence of a Professional Educator Licensee, an agreement with school leadership will be in place prior to appointment.

As a faculty member, you are expected to:

  1. Implement curricula and academic interventions that meet grade-level standards
  2. Design and implement assessments that measure students’ progress towards grade-level standards
  3. Use student assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  4. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  5. Create a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment that excites and invests students
  6. Collaborate with teachers and leaders to improve instructional, culture-building and leadership skills by maintaining a cooperative and positive attitude that supports the mission and goals of the school
  7. Maintain grading records, record daily attendance, and complete all required record keeping as designated by administration
  8. Maintain open communication with all members of the school faith community
  9. Be responsive to ongoing instructional coaching and a growth mindset to increase student success
  10. Attend and fully engage in all professional development, staff meetings, liturgies, and school events such as but not limited to formation experiences, Back to School Night, Open House, Baccalaureate, Graduation
  11. Follow all expectations as outlined in the 2025-2026 Faculty Contract and Handbook
  12. Any other duty as assigned by school administration
