The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is looking for an educator to teach the 6th-7th grade students who are part of Jewish Journeys, our B-Mitzvah program, for 2022-2023. This individual will assume the role of an expanded teacher for these students and families and will have administrative support. Must have experience and a love for teaching middle school students and be available to teach Monday–Thursday afternoons in person, beginning in the fall. The educator would teach four separate classes and work with families. This is not a BM tutoring position. Salary range $20K - $24K for this 9-month position.

Responsibilities

• Teach four separate classes to 6th–7th grade students as part of Jewish Journeys, our B-Mitzvah program.
• Serve in an expanded teacher role for these students and families with administrative support.
• Be available to teach in person Monday–Thursday afternoons beginning in the fall.
• Collaborate with families as students approach bar/bat mitzvah.

Minimum Qualifications

• Prior classroom experience teaching middle school students
• An innovative approach to teaching Jewish content
• Ability and willingness to work with students and parents as they approach bar/bat mitzvah
• Interest in working with unaffiliated families with little to no prior knowledge
• Availability to teach in-person four afternoons: Monday–Thursday beginning in September 2022

Salary

$20,000 - $24,000 for the 9-month position
