The teacher will implement an age-appropriate curriculum, ensure a safe and nurturing environment, and work closely with families and staff to support each child's success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
- Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the NC Pre-K standards.
- Create a stimulating and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration, discovery, and learning.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques to address individual learning styles and needs.
- Incorporate early literacy, math, social-emotional learning, and problem-solving activities into daily lessons.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive classroom climate with clear expectations and routines.
- Implement behavior management strategies to foster a respectful and cooperative learning environment.
- Ensure a safe and healthy classroom by following safety procedures and maintaining appropriate supervision.
- Assessment and Documentation:
- Conduct ongoing observations and assessments to monitor each child's developmental progress.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and use data to inform instruction.
- Share assessment results with families and collaborate with them on supporting their child's growth.
- Family and Community Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with families through regular communication, conferences, and home visits.
- Provide families with resources and strategies to support learning at home.
- Collaborate with community agencies and resources to support children's health and developmental needs.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Collaborate with other educators, administrators, and support staff to promote a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required. NC Birth-Kindergarten teaching license preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with preschool-aged children, particularly in a Pre-K setting.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of child development and early childhood education best practices.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Competence in using technology for both instructional and administrative purposes.
- Ability to lift and carry children and materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to participate in active play and engage with children on the floor and at their level.
