We are currently looking for a Delivery Driver to join us in our Whiteville store.

PURPOSE

Prepares equipment for delivery to the customer for the purpose of demonstration, rental or sale, and instructs customer on basic equipment operating procedures. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or senior technicians.

Basic Functions And Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required in the pickup and delivery process. Assists Service Technicians with tasks such as machine set and basic mechanical repairs.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments
  • Transports equipment to/from customers and/or between dealer facilities
  • Maintains records of pickup and deliveries, and obtains necessary signatures and receipts
  • Maintains all required certifications in line with DOT
  • Accounts for all time and for all distance traveled in performing assigned duties
  • Maintains assigned trucks and related equipment in good condition
  • Ensure proper tie down and transport of equipment without damage
  • Assist customers in the safe and proper usage of equipment and recommended additional equipment and supplies to help them perform each task more efficiently
  • Proper usage of company credit cards for fuel and maintenance and submission of receipts on a weekly basis
  • Follow safety procedures for loading and unloading of equipment
  • Wash and prep equipment for in-shop service work or return to customer
  • Assist in cleaning and washing company vehicles as necessary
  • Coordinate prep of envirocrates, pallets, planter stands, etc. for return to John Deere
  • Cell phone is for company usage only. Driver must adhere to motor vehicles safety rules
  • Any other tasks as requested by supervisor

Experience, Skills, And Knowledge Requirements

  • Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment used in pickup and delivery process
  • Basic understanding of machine operation and mechanical aptitude
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Valid driver’s license required and must maintain a driving record per insurance carrier standards
  • Ability to operate a forklift, preferred
  • 1+ year(s) experience as a pickup and delivery driver
  • Must be effective at time management
  • Basic parts and machinery knowledge, preferred
  • Ability to work in a customer focused environment
  • Must be able to back truck/trailer combinations at acceptable levels
  • Have a basic understanding of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and positively with customer and dealership personnel as an ambassador for the dealership

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Weight Requirements: Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Mobility: Squatting, bending, lifting, reaching, twisting, standing, sitting and repetitive keyboarding for long duration of time
  • Visual: Working with PC, manuals, and close detailed work
  • Driving: Occasional – Short and long distances
  • Dexterity: Ability to grasp and manipulate standard tools and office equipment
  • Noise Level: Medium to High
