Catholic Community Services, Homeless Adult Services (HAS) is the largest provider of adult homeless services in Tacoma, Washington. Nativity House (NH), a program of HAS, is the central hub to serve homeless adults in the Pierce County region. It operates 24-hour/7-day a week, offering services (emergency shelter, meals, systematic outreach, Rapid Rehousing, Mental Health and Co-Occurring Disorder treatment, Employment Services, Spiritual Support, 50 units of permanent supportive housing, etc.) to meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing chronic homelessness guests with meeting their goals.
The Driver is responsible for ensuring the timely pick-up and delivery of donations and/or purchases for the Hospitality Kitchen, Shelter, and Family Housing Network. This position is also responsible for loading and unloading the truck inventory as well as the maintenance and security of the truck.
Responsibilities
- Truck driver for daily food donation pick-ups
- Responsible for driving truck for both pick-up and delivery of supplies and purchases.
- Drives safely at all times, in compliance with all relevant laws and the CCS driving policy.
- Loads and unloads truck.
- Maintains the security of the truck and supplies until safely secured in storage space.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Maintains professional conduct consistent with CCS and Program values at all times with agency and program guests/clients, volunteers, staff, and donors, as well as the general public.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED
- 1 year experience within a delivery system.
- Current Pierce County Food Handlers Card and TB Test.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people with chronic mental health, chemical dependency and legal problems.
- Ability to be flexible, meet deadlines, and work effectively under stress.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Experience driving a one ton or larger van.
- Excellant interpersonal skills to include excellent communication and writing skills
- Be a positive and proactive team member.
- Applicant must successfully pass required background checks.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid WA State driver’s license, and current auto insurance.
- Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy, (required to provide current driving abstract).

- Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2yrs experience working with the homeless population.
