Overview
Delivery Driver (10 month position) at Suffolk Public Schools.
Salary Range: $29,938 - $38,438
Position Function: Performs responsible semi skilled work in the operation of motorized equipment and the delivering of materials, supplies and mail; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Essential Functions

- Picking up, sorting, processing and delivering mail, textbooks, food supplies and other materials; delivering other school supplies and materials.
- Collects and sorts out going and inter-office mail;
- Picks up and delivers mail on an assigned schedule and route;
- Assists in textbook depository;
- Receives food service orders, collects and loads supplies and materials;
- Delivers food supplies to schools;
- Assists at the warehouse;
- Delivers and collects audio visual and instructional supplies;
- Cleans and maintains trucks and equipment used;
- Performs custodial duties as required;
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing trucks; general knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation; general knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of equipment; thorough knowledge of school locations and delivery process; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Education And Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the operation of motorized equipment.
Special Requirements
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
