The Medical Receptionist at the Center for Digestive Diseases (CDD) plays a critical role as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This position is responsible for managing patient appointments, handling inquiries, and maintaining accurate patient records to support smooth clinical operations. The role requires effective communication and organizational skills to coordinate between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff. By managing front desk activities and facilitating patient flow, the Medical Receptionist contributes directly to the overall quality of care and patient satisfaction. This position also supports compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards, safeguarding sensitive patient information.
Pay
Base pay range: $18.00/hr - $21.00/hr. This range is provided by Allied Digestive Health. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical receptionist or front desk role within a healthcare setting.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a specialty clinic, preferably in gastroenterology or digestive health.
- Familiarity with insurance verification and medical billing processes.
- Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
- Advanced proficiency with EHR software and appointment scheduling platforms.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously upon arrival at the Center for Digestive Diseases.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and provide accurate information regarding services and procedures.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with the collection of co-pays or fees as required.
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate communication between patients, medical staff, and other departments to facilitate efficient patient care.
- Manage administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and preparing patient charts for clinical use.
- Assist with billing inquiries and direct patients to appropriate financial services when necessary.
