$46.36/hr - $46.36/hr
An Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Responsibilities
- The Electrician shall perform general maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, replacement of: site electrical system including generators, transformers, automatic and manual switchgear, circuit breakers, fuses, power cables, conduit, and distribution panels, building electrical equipment including distribution panels, switches, conduit wiring, outlets, ground-fault circuit interrupters, lighting, wiring devices, equipment controllers wiring devices, equipment controllers, and ground systems (lightning protection and ordnance); security lighting systems, and fixtures, portable electrical tools (e.g., drills and saws) and extension cords.
- The Electrician shall perform tasks related to the general maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of sensors, instrumentation and control (IC) cables, and cableways (trays, vaults, and conduit) in support of the maintenance of voice/data cable systems, communications and security equipment, building equipment, oil tanks, launch pads, range systems, and rocket ground support equipment.
- The Electrician shall conduct electrical system studies and power quality diagnostics. All work shall comply with the National Electric Code, the National Electrical Safety Code, NFPA 70B (Recommended Practice for Electrical Equipment Maintenance), NFPA Latest Edition (Lightning Protection Code).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A degree or certificate from a Technical College or School is highly desirable.
- Must hold an Electrician License from the State of Hawaii or be capable of obtaining a license within six (6) months.
- Five (5) years of experience as a journeyman or electrician in the electrical maintenance field is required.
- Have experience in Class 1 & 2 electrical installations.
