Overview:

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as an Electrician.

Position Status: Full-time, Rotating Shift. Must be available for on-call and rotating weekend coverage. This position is Mission Essential personnel.

Position Location: Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia

Position Summary:

The Electrician is experienced in industrial or institutional wiring, preventative maintenance, and has a strong background in troubleshooting and repair. This individual installs, maintains, and repairs wiring systems, circuits, electrical fixtures, and electrical equipment using schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.

Responsibilities include conducting operational tests of the electrical systems; following operational and departmental guidelines; and meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements.

Some facilities require Master Electrician (MELE). 1 year post-secondary/vocational training in electrical theory, circuitry, codes, and troubleshooting with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, electrical theory, and electrical work.

Familiarity with the Electric Code (NEC) and the Statewide Building Code is required.

Journeyman's Electrician's License must be attained by the end of the first year of employment for those in Virginia.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Some facilities require Master Electrician (MELE).
  • 1 year post-secondary/vocational training in electrical theory, circuitry, codes, and troubleshooting with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, electrical theory, and electrical work. Familiarity with the Electric Code (NEC) and the Statewide Building Code.
  • Journeyman's Electrician's License must be attained by the end of the first year of employment for those in Virginia.
  • High School or Trade School.
  • Valid Drivers License (NC or VA).
