Join the Electrician role at Riverside Health in Smithfield, Virginia. Opening in early 2026, Riverside Smithfield Hospital will bring high-quality healthcare closer to home for Isle of Wight County residents. Located on a 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benn’s Grant Boulevard in Smithfield, the new hospital will provide modern facilities and comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of the community. The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 ICU beds and 4 Operating Rooms. What You Will Do
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and service all electrical distribution systems and associated facility electrical equipment, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, UPS systems, air compressors, electrical distribution equipment, switches, pumps, valves, air handlers, lighting fixtures, transformers, and electrical motors throughout the facility.
- Maintain fire detection and fire suppression systems.
- Test electrical systems and continuity using testing equipment to ensure compatibility and safety.
- Run conduit and perform cutting, bending, threading, pulling, and running of electrical wire.
- Occasionally be scheduled on-call on weekends and holidays, and respond to emergencies in person as requested.
- Coordinate with outside third-party contractors and subcontractors to accomplish maintenance, oversee procurement of parts and services, and procure as needed.
- Assist co-workers as required and work harmoniously with other departments; participate in work teams and committees when opportunities arise.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (Required) and Program Graduate, One year completed of an approved apprenticeship program training (Required)
Experience
- 3-4 years Electrician Experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Journeyman Electrician - Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation within 3 Years (Required) or
- Master Electrician License - State Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (Required)
