Job Description
The Electrician Level 1 position requires an individual who will perform a variety of tasks related to the safe and efficient application of technical skills and knowledge to maintain industrial machinery, conveyors, and mechanical systems associated with the manufacturing of forestry products. The Electrician Level 1 is responsible for troubleshooting, correcting, and maintaining all electrical equipment within the manufacturing facility.
What you will do:
- Test electrical systems and circuits in wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or repairs.
- Troubleshoot, program, and upgrade Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Identify and troubleshoot objects using electrical control schematics.
- Work with vendors to identify needed parts and recommend to Supervisor.
- Understand and update instrumentation loop diagrams, E & I drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Program AC & DC variable speed drives.
- Update power distribution systems, MCC, and switch gears.
- Install electrical equipment such as variable frequency drives and diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot various optimization systems.
What you need to be successful:
- Knowledge of lock-out procedures.
- Experience with Field Level Hazard Risk Assessments (FLHRA).
- Understanding of electrical circuitry and components, including circuit breakers, motors, controllers, control devices, motor theory, rigging, and precision alignments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance.
- Computer and PLC skills.
- Ability to use hand and power tools properly, including multi-meters and knowledge of 480-volt 3-phase AC.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC5, ControlLogix 5000, PanelView, DeviceNet & Ethernet communication systems.
- Familiarity with scanning and optimization systems within the lumber business (e.g., Porter, USNR).
- Understanding of process network communication systems and components such as Ethernet & Fiber Optic.

- 4-5 years of electrician work experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
