Pay rate - $35.39/hour.
The electrical journey-level position requires a well-rounded, highly trained, and experienced individual, typically acquired through a formal apprenticeship program and on-the-job experience. Responsibilities include installing, servicing, and repairing electrical equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Tasks involve replacing defective circuit breakers, switches, fuses, and other wiring devices; analyzing and troubleshooting electrical systems such as generators, transformers, switchboards, motors, and conduit systems; following blueprints and engineering specifications; and using various hand tools and testing instruments. Installing conduit using threading, cutting, and bending tools may also be required, along with other related duties.
Strongly Preferred: AMMO-29 Certification (Electrical Explosive Safety for Naval Facilities).
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess at least one of the following:
- Certification from an accredited technical school's Electrical Maintenance Level 2 program.
- Completion of an approved/certified apprenticeship program with at least 3 years of industrial electrical experience.
- Minimum of 2 years verifiable experience as a journey-level Electrician working with systems of 600 VAC and below.
- Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints and wiring schematics.
- Knowledge of electrical testing instruments and troubleshooting skills for AC and DC control systems.
- Strong background in control wiring and troubleshooting, with a basic understanding of NEC Table 310.16 for wire size and conduit fill requirements.
- Ability to interpret electrical designs, report on project status, and complete as-builts.
- Capability to work at heights up to 300 feet using mechanical lifting devices.
- Ability to obtain a license to operate lifting devices up to 132 feet.
- CPR certification.
- Must wear ASTM F2413-05 standard safety shoes at all times.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Standard trade tools.
- Successful candidates will undergo a government security investigation and must maintain eligibility for access to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
