Brown & Root Industrial Services is hiring: Electrician in Wilmington

Electrician @ DuPont Newark E&I Site

Summary: Plan, layout, install, and repair wiring, conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring.
2. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaws, pipe threaders, rules, and conduit benders.
3. Pull wiring through conduit, assisted by a helper.
4. Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knives or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
5. Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
6. Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels, fastening them in place with crews or bolts using hand or power tools.
7. Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads.
8. Test circuit continuity to ensure electrical safety and compatibility using instruments like ohmmeters, batteries, buzzers, and oscilloscopes.
9. Observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and determine the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
10. Disassemble and repair defective electrical equipment or systems.
11. Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
12. Maintain tools and equipment.
13. Must be able to distinguish colors.
14. Knowledge of procedures such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), etc.
15. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
16. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in the field or related area.
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
• Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.
• Works under immediate supervision, with some independent judgment and decision-making required.
• Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Job Requirements:

• State of Delaware Electrical License required.
• Ability to rate information using personal judgment or standards.
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Perform a variety of duties that may change often.
• Perform rapid and accurate arithmetical operations.
• See details in objects or drawings as 3-dimensional objects.
• Work at heights without fear.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing 65%, Walking 15%, Sitting 20%.
• Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, and Pulling up to 30 lbs.
• Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Handling, Fingering – various frequencies.
