About Beaumont
Beaumont, Texas, located on the Neches River, is part of the Golden Triangle with a population of more than 118,000. The Beaumont complex is an integrated petrochemical site with a workforce of more than 5,500, including a refinery, chemical plant, polyethylene plant and lubricant blending/packaging. The site is part of ExxonMobil’s U.S. Gulf Coast expansion plans.
Beaumont produces Mobil 1 and Mobil Aviation Greases, among other products used in a diverse range of applications.
Role you will play in our team
We are looking for Electricians at our Beaumont Chemical Plant. An Electrician must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely install all components of instrument control and electrical systems, troubleshoot, analyze and repair these systems. System components include motors, transformers, switchgear, lighting, relays, Programmable Logic Controllers, battery systems and chargers, distribution wiring and piping, instrumentation, control valves, DCS systems, controllers, UPS systems and related equipment.
What you will do
- Safely perform duties with adherence to procedures, PPE and company policy.
- Own personal safety and the safety of coworkers and the community.
- Troubleshoot electrical equipment, use test equipment and understand electrical safety.
- Receive daily schedule and work permits to determine activities.
- Dismantle and troubleshoot electrical machinery and replace defective parts.
- Install and maintain motors, motor control systems, motor operated valves, lighting, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
- Install and monitor performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments or replacements.
- Install ground leads.
- Interpret blueprints, Electrical One-line drawings and electrical schematics; perform work accordingly.
- Lay out, assemble, install, test, repair, and adjust electrical fixtures, equipment, wiring and services including panels, breakers and conduit.
- Mount motors, transformers and lighting fixtures and complete circuits per diagrams.
- Repair, install, replace and test electrical circuits, equipment and appliances with appropriate tools and tests.
- Troubleshoot and repair electric controls, motor control centers and programmable logic controllers.
- Perform preventive maintenance on high voltage substations, transformers, breakers and distribution panels.
- Install and inspect conduit installations.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Receive training on new or changed codes, procedures and processes related to industrial electrical field.
About you
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess valid driver’s license
- Currently possess or be able to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Able and willing to work shift work, weekends, holidays and overtime
- Able and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able and willing to work at heights above 25 feet with fall protection
- Able and willing to work in confined spaces
- Able and willing to work independently or in a team
Preferred Skills
- Desire and ability to be a leader in personal safety and hazard mitigation
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5 to 7 years of related experience
- Journeyman Electrician’s License, OSHA high-voltage certification
- Associate of Science in Instrumentation or Electrical
- Knowledge of electrical systems including planning for secondary circuit additions/modifications
- Lock Out/Tag Out familiarity for safely isolating electrical equipment
- Experience safely installing and maintaining motors, lighting, generators, circuit breakers and transformers
- Proficiency with hand and power tools and electrical test instruments
- Reading commercial/industrial blueprints and applying NEC standards
- Ability to install and maintain motors, motor-operated valves, welding equipment, lighting, generators, circuit breakers and transformers
- Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical controls, industrial motor control centers and programmable logic controllers
