Industrial Electrician

Employment type: Permanent, Full time

Competitive wage: $37.00 to $39.00 per hour, based on skills and experience

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 3:00pm

Expected hours: 40 hours per week, possibility of overtime

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Industrial Electrician's primary responsibilities will include:

  • Read, understand, troubleshoot, and perform electrical work from electrical schematics
  • Perform substation maintenance work, transformer connections, voltage tap changing, switch gear, over current relays, dash pots, demand meters, as well as cleaning all gear.
  • Inspect equipment that has failed, diagnose the problem, and come up with a safe repair procedure in a timely manner to get the equipment back in production.
  • Perform work with minimum supervision, safely work alone or in a team environment, flexible to work on a cross functional team
  • Perform stationary maintenance including but not limited to welding, fabricating, troubleshooting mechanical equipment, changing bearings.
  • Able to work some weekends and callouts during outages (2x per year, 2 weeks)
Qualifications:
  • Journeyman electrician or equivalent experience
  • Experience with medium voltage, operating various test equipment, and troubleshooting in an industrial plant environment
  • Familiar with PLCs, HMI's, RSLogix, Factorytalk and the use of a laptop for trouble shooting equipment issues. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC an asset
  • Experience with:
    • AC volt motor control circuits
    • DC motors and controls
    • Variable Frequency Drives
    • Soft start AC drives
    • 110 Vac, 480 Vac, and 4160 Vac
    • Zero speed switches, motion detectors, level controls, shunts, current transformers, and all 110Vac and below input devices used for control, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and able operates in a safe and efficient manner according to the National Electrical Code
