The School Electrician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems within the school premises. This role requires expertise in electrical systems to ensure the safety and functionality of the school's lighting, power, and other electrical systems, contributing to a productive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Essential Functions

  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems, including lighting, power outlets, and circuit breakers.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize unexpected electrical outages and ensure system longevity.
  • Respond to emergency electrical situations promptly, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Respond to work orders submitted through the organizational work order management system.
  • Install new electrical components, systems, and fixtures as required by work orders, renovation or expansion projects.
  • Ensure all installations adhere to local and national electrical codes and standards.
  • Regularly inspect electrical systems to ensure they meet safety standards.
  • Stay updated with local, state, and national electrical codes to ensure compliance.
  • Train school staff and students, when necessary, on electrical safety practices.
  • Maintain records of all electrical inspections, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Update electrical schematics and diagrams following any modifications or new installations.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Manager/Maintenance Supervisor to schedule and prioritize tasks.
  • Communicate any major electrical issues or shutdowns to the school administration to minimize disruption.
  • Manage electrical tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Recommend purchases of new equipment or tools when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

electrical codes.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Education Required: High School or equivalent

Certification Required: Valid Driver's License, industry certification is a plus

Prefer: Associate degree in electrical technology or related field is a plus. Master Electrician preferred.

Experience Required: Minimum of five years of experience in electrical maintenance or installation, with experience in a school setting preferred
