We are seeking a skilled Wide Format Operator and Vinyl Installer to join our team. This role is responsible for operating large-scale printing equipment, including HP Latex printers, to produce high-quality graphics and installing vinyl materials on various surfaces such as vehicles, signs, and displays. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the print industry, technical proficiency with relevant software and equipment, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to company policies and maintain a professional, positive attitude at all times.
- Prepare and install wrap films for vehicles, including vinyl graphics, vinyl lettering, floor, wall, and window graphics, banners, mesh banners, and fleet graphics (e.g., box trailers).
- Layout, cut, and shape graphics to precise specifications.
- Inspect completed jobs for accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
- Install interior and exterior signage, ensuring proper alignment and durability.
- Perform laminating, cutting, weeding, mounting, wall wrapping, and other sign production tasks.
- Utilize applicable tools effectively for sign and vehicle installations.
- Operate multiple machines within the manufacturing workflow to enhance team capacity, including wide-format printers, flatbed printers, laminators, cutters, and routers.
- Read and interpret work orders accurately to guide production processes.
- Complete job order intake paperwork and maintain job tracking records.
- Conduct quality control assessments, discerning acceptable work while upholding a high standard of excellence.
- Perform tasks with a consistent sense of urgency, delivering high-quality products to customers.
- Interact with internal and external customers to provide superior service and complete tasks efficiently.
- Assist in administrative tasks, projects, and other production areas as assigned.
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and safety and environmental control standards.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies during morning, evening, and between shifts; promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Maintain daily time and materials usage reports by entering information into the computer system.
- Assist the manager or supervisor with product development as assigned.
- Support other production tasks as needed.
- Assist in other areas of the company as required.
- Adhere strictly to safety rules and protocols.
- Work overtime as necessary to meet production demands.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) is required.
- Technical training or certification in graphics, printing, design, or vehicle wrap installation is preferred, such as 3M certification or digital press operator credentials.
- Certification in HP Latex printer operation or equivalent training is advantageous.
- Training or certifications preferred: Lowen, 3M, or Avery.
- Intermediate knowledge of major name-brand materials such as 3M, Avery films, and pre- and post-application processes is preferred.
- Minimum of two to five (2-5) years of experience in the print industry, with at least one to three (1-3) years specifically in wide-format printing, sign production, or vinyl graphics installation.
- Proven experience in vehicle wrap installations, graphic applications, and removal of vinyl materials.
- Minimum of one to three (1-3) years of hands-on experience operating HP Latex printers or similar wide-format equipment.
- One to two (1–2) years’ experience in signage or vehicle wrapping, color matching, and printing services is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
