The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for coordinating a broad range of Human Resources-related functions at Horizons Residential Care Center, a non-profit organization. This role develops, administers, coordinates and maintains systems and processes in areas including first-point-of-contact customer service, recruiting/hiring, benefits, HR data and reports, HR policies and procedures, employment law compliance and employee changes and departures. This is an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Coordinator/Generalist will report to and collaborate directly with the HR Director.

Training and Experience
Key Skills: Must have a 2-year college degree, a 4-year degree is preferred, and a minimum of 2-3 years of Human Resources Generalist experience. Experience in healthcare, non-profit, or corporate environment preferred. Strong skills in areas including customer service and interpersonal relations, project management, problem solving, confidentiality, time management, meeting deadlines and multitasking, detail oriented/accurate, good judgment and decision making, verbal and written communication, self-motivated, dependable, flexible, thinks outside the box. Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and Word/Excel preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Partners with the Director of Human Resources to ensure the efficient and profitable operation of Horizons' HR Department.
- Serves as first point of contact regarding HR-related questions, providing strong customer service, & interfaces with comprehensive HR vendor.
- Coordinates and oversees recruiting, hiring and new hire orientation processes.
- Initiates and coordinates final storage of competency packets, annual evaluations, and other personnel records, as assigned.
- Collaborates with Insurance Broker regarding all aspects of Horizons' benefits plans.
- Oversees FMLA and other leave programs.
- Oversees the employee departure process including scheduling exit interviews.
- Participates in the development, communication, & implementation of policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with Director of Operations to support program & organizational development.
- Protects the organization's values and integrity by keeping information confidential.
- Ensures timely and accurate entry and maintenance of HRIS data and reporting.
- Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, and recommending courses of action.
- Ensures that all HR policies, procedures and systems comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing legislation, new legislation, anticipated legislation, and enforcing adherence to requirements. Advises management on needed action.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as requested by the President & CEO.
- Performs other related duties as requested by executive leadership.

- Sit, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects.
- Manual dexterity and coordination while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and other office equipment.
- Stand for extended lengths of time to file, organize paperwork, etc.
Compensation will be aligned with experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Final salary details will be confirmed during the interview process.
