Scope of Role
The Human Resources Generalist performs professional-level duties across one or more manufacturing facilities. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Generalist collaborates with plant leadership and HR teams to develop and implement strategic and operational human resources programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities include employee relations, workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, employee retention, coaching and development, conflict management and ad hoc initiatives. This role will manage onboarding and offboarding, serve as the HR systems and process owner and help provide day-to-day HR support, in partnership with the Director, Human Resources and the HRBP team. Occasional travel to sites within the business unit is required.
The ideal candidate will have HR experience in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational skills, strong communication and critical thinking skills. Key Objectives and Responsibilities
- Partners with Hiring Managers, Human Resources Business Partners, and Talent Acquisition on coordinating recruiting efforts for the plant location, including validating proper approvals, status of open requisitions and new hire pre-start activities and communications.
- Ensures positive employee experience by serving as lead in partnering with Hiring Managers to deliver pre-start activities (e.g., ordering equipment, completing induction plans), orientation, facilitating 30-60-90-day check-ins and supporting identified engagement initiatives.
- Owns HRIS transactions in Dayforce.
- Utilizes HRIS to assist with reporting on workforce data and trends, while managing data integrity reviews and required updates related to Career Framework (Plant Manager tiers, STIP plan alignment, etc.).
- Serves as leave of absence (FMLA, ADA, etc.) point of contact, administering employee leave requests and coordinating follow-ups for employees as requested by third-party administrator.
- Manages the employee off-boarding process, including exit interviews, explaining payroll/benefits implications, facilitating return of company assets and IT changes.
- Supports managers and team members by advising on company policies and practices.
- Participates in first-level employee relations investigations in partnership with the Director of Human Resources, HRBPs and Employee Relations.
- Coaches managers to deliver and track counseling and disciplinary actions in line with company policies to maintain a productive plant workforce.
- Acts as an employee relations specialist and participates in employee relations counseling.
- Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 work authorization.
- Supports internally equitable and externally competitive plant compensation practices including current rates, annual adjustments, promotions, etc.
- Provides project management and administrative support for local activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business, or related field required.
- 3+ years' experience in professional-level Human Resources strongly preferred.
- Experience with HRIS or HCM systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Manufacturing or related industry experience preferred.
- SHRM certification preferred.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience managing employee relations and conducting investigations.
- Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned workforce.
- Results-driven with the ability to work independently and use sound judgment and decision-making.
- This position reports to on-site in Ballinger, Texas, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
