Position Summary
The Human Resources Supervisor, under the direct supervision of the HR Manager with dotted line to the General Manager, is responsible for supporting and overseeing daily HR-related duties, including benefits administration, payroll, employee relations, policy implementation, training, recruitment, and performance management. The HR Supervisor ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and plays a key role in fostering a positive work environment by partnering with managers and employees to provide guidance in HR administration at the Gowan Milling Plant.

Role Responsibilities
- Coordinate new hire orientation, benefits eligibility, open enrollment, terminations, and payments.
- Handle employee relations matters, investigate workplace issues, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Assist foremen/supervisors with employee terminations and disciplinary actions, ensuring proper documentation, progression and compliance.
- Oversee timekeeping, attendance and payroll support functions.
- Coordinate training and development programs to build employee skills and improve retention.
- Prepare reports and documents, both confidential and non-confidential, as required.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment practices.
- Administer FMLA, unemployment claims, and PTO tracking.
- Support the Safety Department with workers’ compensation claims and the EHS Department.
- Engage regularly with employees at their workstations/units to maintain proactive employee relations.
- Lead or assist in HR projects such as policy updates, wellness initiatives, engagement activities, or audits.
- Address employee questions regarding company policies and procedures while enforcing compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality in all employee and company matters.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA when maintaining employee personnel and medical files.
- Maintain and update Labor Law posters, communicate new policies, and suggest updates to the employee handbook.
- Establish and track employee development and retention programs, working with supervisors and managers to ensure proper implementation.
- Develop and maintain job tier wage structures based on employee performance metrics and assigned responsibilities.
- Maintain effective communication with the Corporate Human Resources team and participate in off-site HR meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Certified Professional in Human Resources (SHRM or PHR) preferred.
Experience / Skills / Abilities
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Manufacturing or industrial HR experience preferred.
- Knowledge of ADP e-Time is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to large and small groups.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
