Job Summary
Oversees the strategic direction, planning, administration, evaluation, and coordination of the human resources function across the institution’s three mission areas. Functions include workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and development, employee engagement, compensation, benefits, leave administration, HR policies, legal and institutional compliance, rewards and recognition, and workers compensation. This role requires a strategic business partner who is collaborative and capable of building consensus toward shared outcomes.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field and seven (7) years of experience leading human resources functions with a clear record of advancement, including progressive experience in HR generalist and HR management positions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Expertise in analysis, decision making, project management, and process improvement. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency in presenting. Experience supervising and developing staff; implementing strategies and systems for talent management, compensation and benefits, and HR technology. Ability to supervise HR staff, conduct research on trends and regulatory changes, and engage in long-term strategic planning. Set standards for HR service, monitor service levels, and balance conflicting demands.
Responsibilities
- Improve morale and employee retention
- Oversee recruitment efforts to source and select candidates effectively
- Design and implement a competitive compensation system and benefits package
- Mitigate legal risk through proactive training and processes for managing conflicts, investigations of harassment/discrimination, and other allegations
- Plan and execute HR functions strategically (compensation/benefits, performance management, training and development, employee engagement and relations)
- Lead efforts to advance recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce
- Collaborate with the CHRO and other HR leaders on strategic HR issues and workforce planning
- Develop and implement HR policies for the institution
- Manage HR operations including recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and counseling
- Lead the administration of performance management with ongoing feedback and coaching
Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires occasional handling of potentially dangerous equipment, extended hours beyond regular schedule, travel to offsite locations, workload changes, and various physical activities (lifting up to 75 pounds, standing, walking, driving, etc.).
