Alamo Group is accepting applications to fill the position of Human Resources Manager at its facility in Shoemakersville, PA. This role will also have HR responsibilities for locations in Hopkinton, NH and Skowhegan, ME.

Under general direction, manages plans, develops, recommends and implements human resources activities, policies, procedures and programs for the manufacturing organization. Directs the overall population of the company in accordance with corporate policies/practices and applicable laws. Leads strategic planning to provide the company with the best talent and retain it, increasing the skills of individuals in the organization and retaining our most valuable assets. Major areas include strategic and organizational planning, performance management, employee development and training, employee relations, wage and salary administration, Workers Compensation, wellness and safety programs.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Develop, author and consult with corporate HR on local policies and procedures; review recommended changes and counsel employees and managers to ensure adherence.
  • Plan, develop, direct and evaluate overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the HR functions as it relates to meeting company goals and objectives; plan for continual improvement of HR team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances; mediate difficult employee relations as a neutral party.
  • Participate as a strategic partner with the executive staff to plan and develop programs affecting the company and its people. Advise executive management on strategic decisions and resource allocation.
  • Provide consultative support to management in conflict resolution, performance management and consistent application of policies.
  • Translate strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.
  • Assume the position of Affirmative Action Compliance Officer for the Company.
  • Consult with management to identify training needs and coordinate mandated training in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Oversee hourly through salary exempt recruiting, screening, hiring, and orientation. Manage internal job transfer/bid programs, promotions, etc.
  • Oversee completion of Personal Action Requests, HR forms, job descriptions and performance reviews; review for compliance and approve as required.
  • Conduct internal investigations pertaining to possible policy, procedure or employment law violations.
  • Respond to employee questions and concerns; advise employees regarding company policies, insurance and local procedures.
  • Coordinate with leadership on termination actions to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws.
  • Coordinate and hold facility meetings relating to benefits, training, policies and safety.
  • Oversee writing, editing and distribution of employee communications.
  • Maintain wage and salary administration processes.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and agency rules related to HR management, workers compensation and employee safety.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles for strategic planning, resource allocation, HR modeling, leadership and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for training design, teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; excellent human relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build effective business relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and other departments.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint); working knowledge of an integrated HRIS system; ADP experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze problems and identify effective solutions; ability to motivate and develop people and place the right person in the right job.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business or related field required.
  • PHR or SPHR certification desired.
  • Ten to fifteen years of progressive HR/Personnel experience required; manufacturing environment and leadership experience preferred.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

This position operates in an office environment with frequent trips throughout the non-climate controlled manufacturing plant. Occasional travel by automobile or air with possible overnight stays. Requires standing, walking, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing and seeing. May lift, push or pull up to 25 pounds occasionally.
