As part of HVAC Cooling, SPX Cooling Technologies leads in high quality industrial HVAC equipment used to cool large facilities such as hospitals, data centers, and power plants, with brands including Marley, Recold, and SGS.
What You Will Do (Job Summary)
As the Director of Human Resources, you will drive the strategic planning, tactical management, and effective implementation of HR strategy, programs, and processes that support business priorities for SPX’s Cooling business. You will directly manage a team of 2 and support approximately 550 employees with a focus on talent, employee engagement, organizational design, employee relations, performance management, and compensation. This role will continuously improve core HR processes, programs, and policies for the Global Cooling business, working with leadership teams and corporate support services to maintain a highly efficient and motivated workforce aligned to business needs.
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of the human resources field, laws, compliance, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and develop an engaged, inclusive culture. This role focuses on strategy and execution and requires navigating priorities seamlessly.
Responsibilities
- Business Partnership: align HR with business strategic objectives; implement HR initiatives and programs across the business; identify risks and opportunities; foster accountability and engagement; provide HR business partner support to leaders; use data to provide solutions; manage key HR metrics; lead HR projects and improve processes; contribute to merger & acquisition activity including due diligence and integration
- Talent & Organizational Development: attract, develop, and retain talent; ensure staffing needs are met; support career development and recognition programs; partner with leaders on training; oversee performance management and succession planning; manage total rewards tied to performance; analyze and recommend organizational capabilities; manage annual pay planning
- Employee and Labor Relations: improve employee relations, policy development, and engagement; maintain labor relations with bargaining units; support regulatory requirements including EEO, FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and compliance guidelines
- Change Management and Continuous Improvement: champion new initiatives; drive change with stakeholders; support digital HR solutions and streamlined processes; contribute to M&A activities
- Special Projects: participate in other department and organization goals as assigned
Qualifications
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in progressively responsible Human Resources roles
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience and experience working with unions
- Experience managing large HR projects

- Ability to develop HR strategies with high impact; address complex HR issues; partner with senior leaders; coach and mentor; allocate HR resources and measure performance
- Strong leadership to attract, motivate, and develop a high-performing team

- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field
- MBA or related graduate degree preferred
- PHR/SPHR/GPHR Certification preferred
