A Cafe Barista is responsible for setting and clearing tables to provide restaurant patrons with a clean and tidy environment. Duties include removing used dishes, resetting silverware, and filling beverages for diners. We are seeking talent for a flexible 32-hour workweek with Breakfast and Lunch shifts starting at 5:30am to 1:00pm, including some weekends. Cash handling experience and experience working with alcohol are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
• Preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate
• Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries
• Answering customers’ questions about menu choices; promoting and recommending menu options
• Taking payment from customers
• Maintaining inventory and equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs
• Keeping the work environment sanitary and organized
• Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service
• Removing used plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins from tables after diners are done eating
• Replacing cutlery and glassware in anticipation of new diners
• Interacting with guests in a friendly and efficient manner; clearing, cleaning and preparing tables
• Bringing out meal orders if waitstaff are busy
• Escalating guest service issues to management if unable to resolve
• Ensuring guests are satisfied during their meal service
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Listen well and communicate in a professional and friendly manner
• Focus on customer satisfaction
• Practice basic safety procedures with hot beverages
• Be efficient and organized; build good relationships with customers
• Maintain a clean work environment and keep supplies replenished
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Minimum of 6 months of server experience; hospitality experience preferred
• Possess basic math skills and cash-handling
• Ability and flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
