At Southall, we are looking for team members to help us as we continue our journey to inspire culinary consciousness – showcasing fresh, seasonal fare that highlights the path from seed to plate. Our dining experiences take place just steps from where our ingredients are grown and raised. The Barista / Barback will be responsible for guiding our guests through an immersive coffee experience, anticipating their needs and delivering the highest of personalized service and attention. In addition, support service for the bar staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet guests warmly and deliver outstanding service with professionalism and enthusiasm
Provide detailed descriptions of menu items and suggest offerings based on guest preferences
Recognize and personally greet returning guests by name
Expertly prepare and serve hot and cold beverages including specialty coffee, tea, and wine, in accordance with Southall’s standards
Weigh, grind, and pack coffee beans as needed, ensuring freshness and consistency
Maintain a thorough knowledge of beverage recipes, presentation standards, and drink trends
Stock all necessary products to ensure efficient daily operations
Requisition, receive, verify, and properly store all beverage and bar-related supplies, including liquor, wine, beer, juices, and condiments
Ensure bar and service stations are clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout service
Monitor refrigeration and heating equipment temperatures to ensure food and beverage safety
Assist with daily opening and closing procedures, including setting up and breaking down the bar area
Support team members and contribute to smooth outlet operations as needed
Understand the full menu, including daily specials and out-of-stock items
Clear dishes and glassware promptly and maintain a tidy work environment
Skills & Experience:
Previous barista or hospitality experience in a restaurant, café, or bar setting preferred.
Solid knowledge of coffee, wine, beer, and spirits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to high service standards.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude.
Education & Physical Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Comfortable working in various indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
