STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Provide a warm, friendly, personalized experience for our guests. This includes making and serving coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and maintaining grab-and-go breakfast items. Provide friendly service and an upscale dining experience, including waiting on tables, marketing, selling, and serving all meal items.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing/Walking: Constantly. Various surfaces including carpet, tile, and rubber mats.
  • Crouching: Occasionally. Lift trays, glass racks, clean, stock shelves.
  • Kneeling/crawling: Occasionally. Clean or pick up debris.
  • Stooping: Frequently. Load carts and trays while serving food and beverages; expediting.
  • Twisting: Constantly. Serve guests, monitor banquet room activity, maneuver through crowds and staff.
  • Balancing: Constantly. Carry trays, glassware, and beverage containers.
  • Reaching: Frequently. Stock supplies, carry trays, serve at arm’s length extension, set up banquet tables.
  • Handling/Grasping: Frequently. Serve food, set up banquet tables, use telephone.
  • Fingering/Feeling: Frequently. Write, use adding machine, garnish, fill plates, fold napkins, set tables with silverware, handle hot plates/pans.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Frequently. Push warmers, carts, tables, glass and china carts. Average weight: 10 lbs. force. Maximum weight: 20 lbs. force.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Frequently. Set up tables, food trays, ice buckets. Average weight: 25 lbs. Maximum weight: 40 lbs.

Working Environment

  • Interior of hotel, in all areas of the hotel.
  • Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions.
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
  • Exposure to food items and beverages.

Duties & Functions

  • Contribute positively to the team within the department.
  • Greet guests and suggest beverage orders, utilizing upselling techniques.
  • Prepare for all requests/beverage orders paying attention to detail (e.g., coffee blend preferences, sugar ratios).
  • Follow beverage recipes.
  • Serve beverages and prepared grab-and-go food items (croissants, breakfast breads, Danish, fruit, yogurt).
  • Maintain sanitary and clean work areas and equipment.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to ensure all grab-and-go items are prepared and available.
  • Monitor and anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests even when busy.
  • Maintain positive guest relations. Be familiar with all hotel services/features.
  • Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Adhere to payment, cash handling, credit card, and room charge policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and meetings.
  • Comply with Valencia Hotel Group standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Skills And Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Strong English communication and organizational skills.
  • Availability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
