The Business Analyst (BA) plays a key role on the Scrum delivery team, responsible for eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and functional requirements for a Personal Lines Property Policy Administration System (PAS). Acting as a liaison between business stakeholders, UX designers, developers, and QA teams, the BA ensures successful, value-driven software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Documentation

  • Partner with product owners, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to gather and clarify requirements related to core policy functions (quoting, issuance, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, etc.).
  • Analyze complex insurance processes and break them down into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate discussions between technical and non-technical teams to align on business specifications.
  • Support integration requirements with third-party systems (e.g., external data providers, comparative raters).
  • Collaborate with shared/Common team resources (BAs, QAs, PMs) as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date business documentation (e.g., business specifications, Confluence pages).

Agile Software Delivery

  • Lead backlog refinement sessions with the Scrum team.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Champion best practices in Agile business analysis and iterative software delivery.

Requirements & Implementation Alignment

  • Ensure business requirements are compatible with PAS architecture (transactions, forms, integrations).
  • Work closely with architects and tech leads to maintain system alignment.
  • Clarify application rules, logic, and workflows for developers.
  • Translate wireframes and prototypes into clear business logic and functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI teams to ensure interfaces align with business processes and deliver intuitive user experiences.
  • Validate the final UI against business requirements.

Testing & Validation

  • Support QA by helping develop test scenarios and offering ongoing clarification during testing.
  • Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT), helping business users validate full end-to-end policy flows.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 35 years of experience as a Business Analyst within P&C insurance, specifically Personal Lines.
  • Hands-on experience with the Duck Creek Policy platform (configuration, transactions, rating, integrations).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience working on custom UI development and user-centered design initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office, and diagramming software.
