CVP is seeking Dental Assistants to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with dental services at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) in Los Angeles, CA and its satellite locations, including Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center, Bakersfield CBOC, Santa Maria CBOC, Los Angeles ACC, and Captain Rosemary Bryant Mariner Outpatient Clinic.

As a Dental Assistant, you will perform chairside assistant duties in all phases of dentistry, including prosthodontics, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and endodontics within the VAGLAHS. This position offers an opportunity to serve America's Veterans while utilizing your dental assistant skills.

  • Prepare patients and instruments for dental treatment, measure and record vital signs, and respond to basic medical emergencies
  • Prepare surgical dressings and specimens, and adjust treatment as needed to account for age-specific needs of geriatric patients
  • Perform laboratory duties and operate dental x-ray equipment, including evaluating images for diagnostic quality and utilizing dental imaging safety techniques
  • Operate, maintain, and clean dental equipment, instruments, and assigned spaces according to current Infection Control policies, Reportable Medical Events (RME), and OSHA guidelines
  • Maintain dental chair/unit maintenance, equipment inventory, instrument inventory, and supply management in operatories and supply rooms
  • Receive and route patients, record information related to patient care, and provide patients with education materials related to their care
  • Provide proper verbal and written post-op instructions following surgical procedures
  • Protect sensitive data in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws
  • Document patient progress through electronic dental records
  • Utilize software programs including word processing software, VistA, CPRS, and Dental Record Manager Plus (DRM+)
  • Instruct, assist, and answer questions for dental trainees in the Dental Clinic
  • Current unrestricted license by the Committee on Dental Auxiliaries (COMDA) for the State of California
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a dental assistant
  • Dental Radiological Certificate
  • Current BLS and/or CPR certification
  • Valid TB test
  • Ability to successfully undergo a Government-sponsored background investigation (US Citizenship required)


Work Schedule Monday through Friday, standard business hours

Pay $22-26/hr

Please note this role is pending program award with an anticipated late fall start.
