Job Summary: The Dental Assistant III provides dental care to patients in a community health center setting. Responsibilities include assisting the dentist during examinations and treatments, performing cleanings, sterilizing instruments, arranging tools, and assisting with x-rays. The role works under the supervision of the dentist and performs routine tasks according to established standards, procedures, and instructions. Additionally, the role involves routine administrative and clerical tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete initial assessments of patients according to policies and procedures, and document appropriately.
  • Follow care plans for each patient, including making referrals as needed.
  • Receive and record dentist orders, ensuring completion.
  • Assist the dentist during exams and procedures, and operate specialized dental equipment.
  • Prepare solutions and materials for fillings, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean work environment following treatments.
  • Record information dictated by the dentist on patient charts.
  • Perform routine dental laboratory work.
  • Order dental and office supplies.
  • Coordinate and prioritize patient activities and maintain relationships with referral facilities.
  • Assist in keeping the dental department productive and compliant with all rules and regulations.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Completion of an accredited program in dental assisting.
  • EDDA Certification preferred.

Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge.
