- Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials.
- Perform procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.
- Prepare treatment rooms according to procedures and protocols.
- Ready patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping them.
- Provide information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
- Assemble instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area, positioning instruments for dentist access, suctioning, and passing instruments.
- Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient99s mouth.
- Provide diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies and preparing study casts.
- Maintain patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations and cleaning/removing removable appliances.
- Assist in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency directory.
- Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
- Document dental care services by charting in patient records.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Ensure proper operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Conserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Support the hygiene department by assisting with patient seating, preparation, and diagnostic imaging.
- Assist the hygiene department with coronal polishing, when needed.
Qualifications
- The selected candidate will have a valid State of TN Dental Assistant license
- At least 1 year of chair-side dental assisting experience
- X-Ray Certification
- Nitrous Oxide Certification
- Coronal Polishing Certification
- Knowledge of dental technology; Dentrix experience is highly preferred
- Patient services experience
- Ability to perform diagnostic procedures
- Ability to report for early start times at least 2 days a week
