Responsibilities

• DENTAL TREATMENT
  • Expanded duties as licensed by the board of professional regulations for certified dental assistant
  • Polish clinical crowns of teeth
  • Apply topical fluoride gels and varnish
  • Place temporary restorations and sealants
  • Fabricate temporary crowns, pack cord and cement temporary crowns
• FOUR HANDED DENTAL TECHNIQUE
  • Review medical history with patient/guardian and take blood pressure
  • Complete signs and symptoms and objective data of SOAP notes and write up in computer notes
  • Use proper barrier techniques
  • Pass instruments while retracting tongue/cheek and suctioning
  • Coordinate assisting methods with dentist’s actions
  • Adjust equipment and light source as needed by dentist
  • Mix restorative materials and cements
• PROPER OPERATORY SETUP
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are out and in place before patient arrives
  • Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds
• RADIOGRAPHS
  • Maintain radiographic certification as licensed by the Board of Professional Regulations
  • Use ScanX phosphoric plates and EagleSoft software
• STERILIZATION
  • Properly clean and sterilize instruments following dental clinic procedures
  • Clean autoclave and clean disinfect counters and environmental surfaces

Qualifications & Skills

• Florida Dental Radiology Certificate
• FL Dental Expanded Duty Certificate
• FL driver’s license
• Current/active CPR certificate
• Working knowledge of standard dental procedures, techniques and materials used in the dental clinic
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards, dental infection control and hazardous dental materials
• Positive, helpful attitude toward dental director, dentist, students, staff, patients and families
• Ability to enter information into EagleSoft electronic health record
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) – highly preferred
• Pediatric Experience – highly preferred

Role Details

• Work schedule: Flexible days. Full-time or 2-3 days a week.
• Work environment: Marion County Health Department or alternating school site locations.
• Dress code: Scrubs
• Travel: 10% of the time. May be assigned to a school site. Normally will be an elementary school. Will be at the school for the entire day.
• Equipment used: EagleSoft, autoclave, dental equipment
