Overview

We are hiring a Dental Assistant for a client in Ocala, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Expanded duties as licensed by the board of professional regulations for certified dental assistant
  • Polish clinical crowns of teeth
  • Apply topical fluoride gels and varnish
  • Place temporary restorations and sealants
  • Remove sutures
  • Fabricate temporary crowns, pack cord and cement temporary crowns
  • Review medical history with the patient/guardian and take blood pressure
  • Complete the signs and symptoms and objective data of the SOAP notes and write up in the computer notes
  • Use proper barrier techniques
  • Pass instruments while retracting tongue and/or cheek and while suctioning
  • Coordinate assisting methods, activities and actions with the dentist's actions
  • Adjust equipment and light source as needed by the dentist
  • Mix restorative materials and cements
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are out and in place before patient arrives
  • Ability to lift at least 10 pounds
  • Maintain radiographic certification as licensed by the Board of Professional Regulations
  • Use ScanX phosphoric plates and EagleSoft software
  • Properly clean and sterilize instruments following dental clinic procedures
  • Clean autoclave and clean the disinfect counters and environmental surfaces

Qualifications

  • Florida Dental Radiology Certificate
  • FL Dental Expanded Duty Certificate
  • FL driver\'s license
  • Current/active CPR certificate
  • Working knowledge of standard dental procedures, techniques and materials used in the dental clinic
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards, dental infection control and hazardous dental materials
  • Positive, helpful attitude toward dental director, dentist, students, staff, patients and their families
  • Ability to enter information into EagleSoft electronic health record
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
  • Pediatric experience highly preferred

Work Hours

  • Flexible days; full-time or 2-3 days a week

Additional Information

  • DRESS CODE: Scrubs
  • EQUIPMENT USED: EagleSoft, autoclave, dental equipment
  • Travel: 10% of the time; may be assigned to a school site. May ride with a state employee in a state vehicle. Typically will be an elementary school and be at the site for the entire day.
