Job Summary:


Cinder Residuals Texas is seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join our plant maintenance team in Fairfield, TX. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and fabricating mechanical systems and equipment throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on mechanical experience and welding proficiency to support plant reliability and daily operations.




Key Responsibilities:


Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, valves, and rotating equipment
Fabricate, install, and modify metal components and equipment using MIG and stick welding (Shielded Metal Arc Welding/SMAW)
Cut, grind, and fit steel or piping materials using torches, saws, and other shop tools
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine proper corrective actions
Maintain organized work areas and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained
Assist in equipment alignments and preventive maintenance routines
Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams
Operate forklifts, skid steers, and other maintenance-related equipment when needed
Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company procedures
Collaborate with other departments during shutdowns, installations, or plant modifications
Support other Site Operations at the request of immediate Supervisor or Plant Manager




Qualifications and Requirements:


High school diploma or GED required
Required to pass a weld test with demonstrated MIG and stick welding experience
Welding experience (MIG and stick) required; ability to pass a weld test is a plus
Ability to read blueprints and fabricate steel components to specification
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rigging, and basic hydraulics
Familiarity with tools and safety procedures related to industrial repair and welding
Ability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Must be available for occasional overtime, after-hours repairs, or emergency support



Physical Demands & Work Environment:


Work is performed in an industrial facility, including time in control areas and field conditions with exposure to noise, dust, heat, outdoor elements, and operational hazards
May involve standing or sitting for extended periods, bending, climbing, using hand tools, and working around heavy equipment or machinery
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights or in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks
Use of communication devices or computer systems may be required, depending on job function
PPE must be worn and all safety protocols followed
