How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Position Title: Mechanic

  • Location: Anchorage, AK
  • Work schedule: 7:00 am 3:30 pm

  • Airgas operates a modern and efficient fleet. Most vehicles are under 6 years old and equipped with driver-friendly technology, such as On Board Computers, collision avoidance technology, latest camera technology and GPS navigation.


The Mechanic works to drive people, processes, and products towards Zero Defects. Along with the Lead Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all types of vehicles/ equipment and hand tools within the company's fleet.

In particular, you will:

  • Review and maintain maintenance schedules for equipment, including highway delivery equipment and different pump systems.
  • Follow a checklist of inspection procedures for brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and other parts of our vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts.
  • Respond to on-call emergency maintenance requests (could be after normal business hours).
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair OEM computer system equipment and wiring. Install, repair, and maintain PeopleNet OBC system.
  • Read and interpret equipment condition reports and repair orders to properly plan equipment maintenance schedules. Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.

Are you a MATCH?

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; additional training such as technical school classes preferred.
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat preferred, not required.
  • Three or more years experience in working on highway equipment maintenance.
  • Competence using Google Chrome, maintenance management software, on-board OEM computer diagnostics systems, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have the ability and experience to diagnose and repair highway delivery equipment including diesel engines, drivetrains, brakes, computers and wiring, hydraulic pumping and product transfer pumps.
  • Ability to work in a drug free environment.
