Scope Of Responsibility

Employees in this classification perform all levels of skilled mechanical tasks related to preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel, gasoline, propane, and electric vehicles and equipment in the field or in a maintenance facility.

Position Description

Title: Mechanic

Supervisor: Fleet & Facilities Manager

Employees perform skilled mechanical tasks, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of transit fleet vehicles and related equipment, requiring independent judgment and adherence to quality standards.

Essential Functions

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs on diesel, gasoline, propane, and electric vehicles.
• Operate vehicle service and repair equipment, including electronic diagnostic tools, welding, cutting, and lifting equipment.
• Perform minor bodywork and replace window/windshield glass.
• Assist with emergency roadside repairs and vehicle operator support, such as snow chain installation.
