Essential Job Functions

• Performs preventive maintenance inspections on all trucks, trailers, lifts
• Performs general maintenance repairs on all trucks, trailers, lifts
• Works with other shop employees to maintain a clean working environment
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and completes needed repairs indicated
• Performs general repairs to electrical systems, starters, lights, alternators and wiring harness, brakes, engines, transmissions, front and rear ends, air systems, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, reefers, fuel tankers
• Maintains a proficiency level of at least 80%
• Works closely with and is accountable to Shop Supervisor
• May take direction from Master Skilled I & II Mechanics
• Works with drivers to diagnose problems
• Basic training in gasoline engines, hydraulics, air conditioning and electrical systems
• Some knowledge of vehicle and trailer electrical and air conditioning systems, hydraulic systems, and welding
• Two years of mechanic experience
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems
• Ability to perform repairs on gasoline engines, electrical and air conditioning systems and hydraulic systems
• Ability to perform welding such as structural steel and aluminum
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
• Must possess a basic set of hand tools up to 1/2 inch drive

Education & Qualifications

• Certifications, plus 2 years work experience preferred
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a structured environment
