Pay range

Base pay range: $22.00/hr - $25.00/hr

PAY RANGE: $22.00-24.00/hr.

Position Overview

This is a year-round, full-time, hourly position. Incumbent must have previous mechanical experience. The mechanic will be working with small equipment such as, but not limited to: walk behind mowers, riding mowers, trimmers, blowers, stick edgers, skid tractors, snow blowers, plows, salt units. This position is responsible for routine maintenance and repairs on the entire fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing; completing preventive maintenance such as oil changes, sharpening blades, replacing belts & hoses, replacing filters, checking tire pressure, cleaning or lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of equipment, etc.
• Maintains equipment functional condition by listening to operator complaints
• Maintains equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
• Maintains equipment records by recording service and repairs
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day with the ability to be mobile throughout required work areas. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 lbs. The employee will be required to generate up to 100 lbs. of push/pull force when maneuvering various equipment/supplies. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Requirements

• It's not mandatory to have your own tools, but it would be an advantage.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to be added onto company’s insurance policy
• Class A CDL preferred
• Previous mechanic experience required
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
• Regular and prompt attendance required
• Must be available for extended hours during snow events; mandatory overtime
