Responsibilities
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Service and maintain braking systems, steering mechanisms, and other crucial vehicle systems.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Fill out part request forms and order parts when needed.
- Make and complete work orders.
- Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and services.
- Update and maintain equipment service logs.
- Ensure compliance with documentation procedures for regulatory and safety standards.
- Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Assemble and install new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Set and verify tolerances and alignment of components using precision instruments.
- Rebuild engines and transmissions as needed.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in mechanic work.
- Experience with heavy diesel repair and maintenance.
- Experience in heavy & yellow iron equipment.
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical repairs.
- Knowledge of fuel systems; both diesel and gas.
- Ability to perform electrical diagnostics using a scanner.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to manage a schedule and organize time.
- CDL Class A (Preferred).
- Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screenings.
