Summary

The Dayton VAMC is seeking a Social Worker at the Springfield VA Clinic. The incumbent will serve as a Clinical Social Worker in the Mental Health Outpatient Clinic within the Ambulatory Care section of the Mental Health Service (MHS).

Duties

• Assess and treat veterans with diverse mental health diagnoses, using advanced skills in counseling, psychotherapy, and treatment planning.
• Conduct bio-psychosocial assessments independently.
• Develop treatment plans collaboratively with veterans and interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide psychosocial interventions, measure outcomes, and coordinate community-based services and referrals.
• Respond to emergency situations, including crisis intervention and admissions to psychiatric care.
• Maintain effective therapeutic relationships, utilizing individual, group, and family counseling skills.
• Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary meetings, and facilitate veteran referrals.
• Provide consultation to staff regarding psychosocial needs and health care impacts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

0800-1630, Monday-Friday

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Master's degree in social work from an accredited program
• Licensure or certification to independently practice social work in a state
