Principal Responsibilities:
- The camp Social Worker is responsible for monitoring the emotional health of campers and counselors throughout the summer camping season, through milieu based work, small group and individual intervention.
- Daily interaction with campers and staff, including being present at meals and camp-wide activities, and meeting with specific groups to address mental health needs, crisis management, and group dynamics.
- Support for parents, addressing camper behavior, mental health needs, and homesickness, and supporting unit supervisors in parent interactions.
- Teach, practice, and help implement conflict resolution skills for campers and counselors.
- Attend staff meetings and provide documentation of interactions.
- Occasional night patrol until midnight.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be licensed or certified to practice in NY State.
- Desire and willingness to work with children, adolescents, and staff in a residential sleep-away camp.
- Availability for full-time work from June 18 to August 19, and for training and meetings in Spring 2025.
- Experience working with children aged 6-16, preferably in camp settings, with clinical supervision and hours toward Social Work Certification.
- Two hours off per day, one day off per week.
Salary:
Under $25,000.
