Position Overview

As a Family Preservation Worker within the MiFT program at Wellspring, you'll be part of a team of social workers committed to helping families across Michigan's upper peninsula, including Marquette, Iron, Delta, Dickinson, and Menominee counties. You will support communities by helping families access necessary resources. Candidates should have experience working with children and families, a bachelor's degree in social work or a related human services field, a valid driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance. Reliability, a responsible attitude, compassion, and a commitment to quality are essential.

Responsibilities

1. Adhere to the MiFT program model of service (strength-based, non-deficit approach).
2. Assist families in obtaining concrete services such as housing, transportation, and home maintenance.
3. Provide skills training including parenting, self-advocacy, self-sufficiency, and communication.
4. Offer short-term counseling and crisis intervention.
5. Make collateral contacts to coordinate outpatient counseling, medical care, educational needs, utility assistance, housing issues, and connect families with community resources.
6. Prepare documentation such as service plans, progress reports, and other required reports timely.
7. Present cases for termination conferences and recommend follow-up services.
8. Maintain a flexible work schedule based on family needs.
9. Maintain face-to-face contact with families as per contract requirements and individual needs.
10. Maintain weekly contact with referring workers and conduct follow-up evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months.
11. Transport clients using your own vehicle.
