GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide home-based early intervention services, serving as service coordinator for specified caseload and maintaining expected billable hours.
- Assess cognitive function and learning styles of children from birth to three and other developmental areas.
- Assess personal/social developmental status of children from birth to three. Assess psychosocial functioning of families enrolled in the program.
- Develop and implement teaching strategies and activities to promote progress or compensate for differences in cognitive functioning and learning style; for differences in personal/social development and in other developmental areas as needed. Provide appropriate adaptation to environment to promote child’s autonomy.
- Generate and implement overall developmental programs for children, function as a generalist over time.
- Provide counseling/support to parents of children enrolled in the program on a one-to-one or couples basis, as requested.
- Address parent/family needs and family dynamics needs whether acting as a service coordinator or in consultation with the service coordinator, team leader, and other REACH and community providers.
- Facilitate parent/family groups, including short-term and support groups, as requested.
- Coordinate services with other team members and with medical, social service, and educational staff of other programs.
- Teach parents and relevant others treatment programs, provide appropriate counsel, support, and advocacy and training to parents of enrolled children. Work in partnership with parents/caregivers.
- Facilitate parent/child playgroups on an as-needed basis.
- Maintain clinical records in a style and timeliness consistent with regulations of the program, ServiceNet, and regulatory agencies.
- Consult to other agencies or service providers about individual children, areas of clinical expertise, and early intervention on an as-needed basis.
- Conduct intake visits and community developmental screenings on an as-needed basis.
- Other duties as requested.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE JOB:
- Must be able to drive within the catchment area and have reliable transportation in order to provide home and community-based visits.
- Must be able to lift infants and small children of up to 40 lbs.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Maintain current infant/adult CPR and First Aid certification.
- Meet and maintain all health requirements under DPH standards.
- TB screen (negative results).
- Valid driver’s license and professional license.
- Provide MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) record to ServiceNet.
- Meet all requirements to acquire within three years of hire and sustain Mass. DPH certification as an Early Intervention Specialist.
