Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 Annual
JOB SUMMARY: The IT Support Technician is an entry level position responsible for providing support and assistance to Vestal Corporation employees in the day-to-day use of their technology equipment.
JOB DUTIES:
End-User Support
- Serve as primary Tier 1 help desk support, responding to tickets, documenting issues, troubleshooting, and escalating when necessary.
- Provide direct assistance to end-users, including setup, training, and support with hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Use remote assistance tools, phone, email, and in-person support to resolve issues.
Hardware & Software Maintenance
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other authorized equipment.
- Rebuild workstations (hardware and software) and ensure systems are operating optimally.
- Perform operating system and application upgrades (Windows, Office 365, and other approved tools).
- Monitor and maintain antivirus/endpoint protection.
Help Desk & Documentation
- Monitor requests via help desk system, ensuring timely response and resolution.
- Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the help desk software.
- Research questions and provide solutions using available resources.
Escalation & Collaboration
- Escalate issues to senior IT staff or external vendors when resolution is outside Tier 1 capabilities.
- Participate in reviews of hardware and software and make recommendations for improvements.
Other
- Support ongoing maintenance and planning needs for IT systems.
- Promote a positive and professional work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a Vestal Corporation office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Must be able to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
- This position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Required
- Technical knowledge of PCs, desktops, and related hardware.
- Windows Desktop OS (10, 11).
- Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
- Active Directory, Group Policy, and basic account management.
- Troubleshooting network/local printers, basic network connectivity, and peripheral devices.
- Ability to document, communicate effectively, and maintain professionalism.
- Must adhere to company policies regarding confidentiality and data security when handling user accounts, systems, and sensitive information.
- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
- Must comply with Vestal Corporations core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and maintain sound relationships among and with employees.
Preferred
- Windows Server platforms (2012+).
- Exchange 365, VLAN, VPN, TCP/IP fundamentals, wireless networking.
- Meraki/Cisco switch configuration, routing, and Intune device management.
- Experience with VMware or other virtual environments.
- Remote control and support tools.
