Francis O Day Co., Inc., a leading paving and excavation company operating in Maryland and Virginia, seeks an experienced Asphalt Roller Operator. Responsibilities include safe and efficient operation of Breakdown and Finish Rollers, distributing, breaking down, compressing, and finishing asphalt surfaces, barricading new asphalt to prevent damage, and maintaining a clean job site. Requirements Proficient in operating asphalt rollers on roads and highways. Strong verbal communication skills, ability to read and write. Ability to work independently and with supervision. Completion of safety and other training programs. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Job Duties

Collaborate effectively with co-workers, residents, and customers. Maintain verifiable work history. Follow foremans directions for daily tasks. Conduct safety and equipment maintenance checks daily. Perform heavy equipment cleaning and secure storage. Report maintenance needs to the foreman. Participate in routine maintenance and uphold safety standards. Use equipment to level roads and ensure proper drainage. Operate equipment safely following proper procedures.

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting, climbing, and using hands to handle equipment. Occasional standing, walking, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching. Ability to lift/move up to 50-75 lbs. Respond quickly to unexpected events. Work long periods outdoors in adverse weather. Wear protective safety equipment consistently.

Work Environment

Outdoor work setting. Proximity to heavy equipment and moving machinery. Night and day shifts required.
