Overview
Commercial Lines Broker/Senior Broker (Hybrid - Boston, MA or NY) at NFP, an Aon company. This role focuses on broking new and renewal business, managing all aspects of placements from initial market selection through policy delivery, with emphasis on the largest and most complex placements. You will mentor and develop staff, while cultivating strong insurer and broker relationships.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of any of the following office locations: New York City, Albany, Rochester, Amherst, White Plains (NY), or Boston, MA.
To support hybrid/remote work, candidates must have access to a reliable, confidential, interruption-free workspace, along with a stable high-speed internet connection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Proactively coordinate and manage broking around the renewal cycle in accordance with NFP’s service model standards and timelines
- Define success and direct broking activity, individually and amongst the team, to achieve the optimal client/prospect outcome; ensure a go-to-market strategy for each broking engagement
- Demonstrate negotiation skills, adapt approach to different personalities, interact with client, carrier, wholesale and specialty audiences, and collaborate with the Broking Team Leader on alternatives and solutions
- Execute client/prospect placements with a clear focus on financial and non-financial outcomes
- Collaborate with account management and clients to ensure complete submissions, respond to carrier queries, compile and analyze quotes, and present a clear marketing proposal
- Develop creative solutions for difficult placement scenarios and drive outcomes to enhance customer satisfaction
- Lead team members in preparing proposals for existing and prospective clients
- Support team members in responding to client queries to resolve issues promptly
- Present proposals to producers and account management teams and lead client meetings
- Oversee development of sales documents, presentations, stewardship reports, and RFP responses for prospective clients
- Prepare detailed coverage and policy comparisons, diagnostics, and consolidated analyses
- Oversee review of binders and policies to ensure terms and conditions are accurate
- Provide leadership and mentor and develop team members
- Develop strong relationships with carrier and wholesale partners and NFP local office teams
- Ensure accuracy of client and policy information in NFP’s Epic agency management system
- Utilize data and analytics to provide meaningful program insight for clients and the broking team
- Advance differentiated client services through effective stewardship processes
- Demonstrate knowledge of the insurance marketplace, products, risk financing strategies, and actuarial concepts
- Lead portfolio management objectives under the direction of the Broking Team Leader
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Epic (agency management system) is a plus
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum seven years of insurance and commercial lines experience
- Team leadership experience is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
- P&C license required or obtained within 90 days of employment
- Advanced industry designation(s) such as CPCU, CIC, ARM preferred
