Job Title: Tax Manager — Location: Santa Clara, CA — Scheduling: Full Time – Monday-Friday — Status: 100% onsite — Duration: Through April 30, 2026 — Pay Range: $110.00-$130.00 per hour (W2).
This is a contract role to support the US Indirect Tax team through April 2026, with the potential for related domestic income tax tasks as needed.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced US Indirect Tax professional (Manager level) to join our Tax team on a contract basis through April 2026. This position will support the US Indirect Senior Tax Manager by managing day-to-day compliance responsibilities and contributing to audit, accounting, and cross-functional tax activities. The ideal candidate will have 7–10+ years of relevant indirect tax experience, including sales/use and property tax compliance, and be comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
Systems in use include NetSuite and Avalara, with a migration to SAP and Vertex in progress. Some exposure to domestic income tax is a plus as the contractor may support that team as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sales and use tax and property tax filings across multiple US jurisdictions using Avalara and NetSuite (transitioning to Vertex and SAP).
- Coordinate with external service providers to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of indirect tax accounts and manage compliance calendars.
- Collect, validate, and maintain resale certificates from customers and support the implementation of a new resale certificate platform.
- Assist in maintaining product and service taxability logic within Avalara, and support the Vertex implementation during the SAP rollout.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Order Admin, AR, Billing, Procurement, and Operations to resolve tax-related issues.
- Respond to notices and inquiries from tax authorities and assist in audit support documentation.
- Provide research support on indirect tax questions, including taxability determinations for new product offerings.
- Optional: Assist the Domestic Income Tax team on compliance tasks, such as data gathering and workpaper preparation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- CPA preferred.
Experience
- 7–10+ years of experience in US indirect tax compliance and reporting (sales/use, property tax).
- Strong understanding of taxability rules, audit management, and multi-state tax issues.
- Previous experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting setting.
- Proficiency with Avalara and NetSuite is strongly preferred.
- Experience with SAP and/or Vertex is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of resale certificate management and exposure to related tools.
- Some exposure to domestic income tax processes is a plus.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Notes
- Support to assist with compliance and day-to-day business activities while the team is working on a new project implementation.
- This role will be primarily focused on Sales & Use Tax and Property Tax. If there is some background in income tax, there may be an opportunity to work with the Domestic Income Tax team for up to 30% of work.
